Softball Excellence Fund
Your contribution to the Softball Excellence Fund directly supports the SDSU softball team and is a key piece to sustaining a championship level program in Brookings. It is a direct investment into the needs of the softball program above and beyond general operating expenses. The priorities are listed below and will include facility upgrades, enhanced recruiting/travel opportunity and enhanced equipment. Each component is critical to building and sustaining a program that will compete for Summit League Titles each year.

Leadership and championship mindset development
During fall and spring, the softball program devotes one day per week to team culture, character development, and a championship mindset. This involves team-building activities, leadership studies, and mental training. This strategy is a critical part of the softball experience and emphasizes the program’s core values of growth, resilience, integrity, and trust.
Enhanced overall experience
Gifts help provide a high-level experience for each student-athlete in the program, ensuring their nutritional needs are met and improving their development opportunities. Donations help provide various hitting and pitching technologies to take our athletes to the next level of play – from providing our pitchers with immediate feedback about the break and spin of their pitches to giving our hitters statistics on their bat-exit speed, launch angles, and more.
Player Development Hitting & Pitching Technology
Hitting/Pitching technology will help take our hitters and pitchers to the next level of play. The technology will give our pitchers immediate feedback about the break and spin of their pitches while simultaneously giving our hitters feedback on their bat exit speed and launch angles.
Softball Field Improvement
The look, feel and functionality of the Jackrabbit Softball Stadium needs to convey the championship level program we are trying to build. Functional and aesthetic upgrades will enhance our ability to reinforce our culture of excellence to current and future student-athletes while also creating an exciting environment for fans to come watch us play. We are working on upgrades to the batting cages, scoreboard and press box with a longer term plan for field turf.
Enhanced Travel Budget
The ability to play a full pre-conference schedule is imperative in competing for championships and advancing to the NCAA Tournament, which is a program goal each and every year. Climate dictates much of the softball schedule in the non-conference season and requires us to travel great distances. Budget constraints cannot prohibit us from playing a competitive schedule. By enhancing our travel budget, we will build a schedule that puts our program in position to consistently compete for championships.
