Volleyball Excellence Fund
As the new head volleyball coach for SD State, it’s easy for me to talk about the recent energy that has surrounded our program. Amongst the community, administrators, our players, and even our biggest fans, there is a new “buzz” and excitement for the next era of Jackrabbit Volleyball. Many people have asked me, “How can I help with your vision for the program? In what ways can I make an impact?” My answer has been simple, the Volleyball Excellence Fund.
The Jackrabbit Club and specifically, the Volleyball Excellence Fund, provide a direct channel for those passionate supporters who want to help this program compete for Summit League Championships. With your support, our staff can provide an exceptional student-athlete experience while creating an entertaining and competitive on-court product. I’m confident that this program can join the other successful teams here at South Dakota State and your contribution helps us get there. You can find a detailed list of our fundraising goals below and I look forward to building a better relationship with our fans in the years to come.

To help our program become more competitive, our recruiting must be more competitive. It is not our focus to “spread a bigger net” and recruit in new regions, it is about focusing on South Dakota and our surrounding states and ensuring that the local talent stays home. Luckily, our coaching staff feels very comfortable recruiting in this region and has many recruiting relationships already established. Your contributions to this area ensure that our coaches can travel properly, use as many recruiting days as NCAA rules allow, and have the means available to attract and host recruits. This is priority #1!
Team Travel & Scheduling
After recruiting, proper scheduling can be the most important aspect of a successful season. Often, it is difficult to find the proper pre-season tournaments that help your team win matches and build momentum toward conference play. To compete for Summit League championships, our non-conference schedule must be strategically organized. Your contributions to this area will help us coordinate the best-fitting non-conference matches, the appropriate travel, and attract opponents to play us in Brookings. We want to play in front of our home crowd as much as possible so your assistance will directly impact the quality of opponents we can invite to Frost Arena!
Lastly, our staff is passionate about increasing the level of coaching and training in our gym. Thus, our last focus is to make sure our student-athletes directly benefit from additional training aids in the practice gym, increased video and statistical analysis, and the proper apparel to achieve success.
